What is God’s Power for?

I am doing some thinking about that this morning about a morning devotional I read on Acts 1:8.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.
I know that in this age of liking comfort, we like to think that God’s focus on us is to “help us get by.”  I would say that is not the primary purpose of the power that God gives us. Rather, it is to share his message of reconciliation with others.
Notice that when we are reconciled with God, ourfocus changes from one of being primarily on helping our ownselves to one of helping others become reconciled to God. Our own reconciliation has been handled, so now our point of focus changes to helping others. The psyche of humanity is one that needs to focus on helping others. We are fulfilled only when God recreates us guiltless before him which allows our attention to be focused upon others in a manner which serves their primary need – reconciliation with God.
The good thing is tha he supplies the power. If you think you are weak, you are not alone for we all are. God, in his infinite knowledge, has anticipated our weakness so that when we are weak, he is strong. Now we can rely on his strenght to be a witness for him!
